I recently earned my B.S. from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where my major was English Education and my minor was Speech Communications. I am also endorsed to teach English and Language Arts, Speech, and Social Sciences in middle schools. As a student teacher, I was in charge of helping students improve their writing, which included college essays, research papers, and creative writing assignments, among other topics. I have experience with ACT preparation and all levels of the ISEE, as well.The part I love most as a teacher is when students have light bulb moments; it does not even matter what they were studying. I find one-on-one teaching moments the most effective because such time allows me to focus on the student's specific learning style and strengths. It is important to me that learning is fun. I believe students will better remember the material if they enjoy the study process. It also allows them to think more thoroughly if they are engaged.In my free time, I am a big crafter who has no fear of thrift shopping or taking on DIY projects for the home. I also enjoy reading and sports such as running, kickball, and swimming. Of course, my husband and children are also major joys in my life.
